Andrea Belotti, according to Jose Mourinho, possesses "the virus of a playmaking magician" (Shutterstock)
Following Roma's 3-0 victory over HJK Helsinki in the Europa League on Thursday night, Jose Mourinho asserts that Andrea Belotti has "the virus of a playmaking wizard."
Miro Tenho's dismissal after just 15 minutes reduced the Finnish team to 10 men, but Roma didn't score until Paulo Dybala's goal just after halftime.
Then, shortly after Lorenzo Pellegrini had increased Roma's advantage, Belotti scored the team's first goal since his free transfer from Torino in the summer.
Belotti, who spent seven seasons with Torino and amassed 100 goals in Serie A, has struggled to make an impression in his early outings for Roma.
And Mourinho thinks the 28-year-old is putting too much pressure on himself to score the ideal goal.
"We need to get better at constructing from the rear." After Roma's victory over HJK Helsinki, Mourinho said, "We have this problem, and I try to disguise it."
Although our front line players are extremely skilled, we need to play tougher. When it comes to the attack, we must be vicious.
"If you want to put the ball in the back of the net, you must be harsh and nasty."
Belotti appeared to be afflicted with the same condition as the front line players today, as I observed him performing four or five heel touches. Not him at all.
